That's right I'm in a trio!! My mom/official trainer is Sister Jones and our other comp is Sister Livingston and she's an STL! Meeting them was definitely a highlight of the week. I am very grateful for their kindness and help to get settled. I can't wait to learn more from them! And guess what??? Sister Jones is gluten free too so I’m not alone in my misery and the members know to make gf dinners.
This week was so awesome and I loved getting to meet some of the people we're teaching and share my testimony in lessons! I'm currently in Creedmoor which is a tiny lil town. Sister Jones said everyone here is a little kooky so good thing I am too, I’ll fit right in!
Shoutouts to:
– Mackay because it's his birthday today! Go send him a hbd email!
–My MTC district for starting their missions!
Culture shock: A lot more southern accents and baptists than in Utah lol. Other than that though Creedmoor kinda reminds me of Alpine WY.
Wednesday:
--Flight to Raleigh!! I may have chosen to live “on the edge” and watched The Little Mermaid don’t tell Sister Hutchins.
--Met the mission Pres. at the airport and he is awesome! His wife was away for family issues but hopefully everything works out and I get to meet her soon! The sweetest senior missionaries gave us a ride to the mission home. They are new as well so we get to figure this mission thing out together.
--Delicious sweet pork burrito dinner at the mission home then training from the APs. We got to hear their testimonies along with Pres. and the spirit was so strong!
--Bueno hotel-sleep last night with my awesome MTC comp Sister Moon.
Thursday:
--More training at the stake center then finally got to meet my comps!!
--Walmart-run for groceries.
Phone call with Robert! He called saying he wants to come back to church, we are so happy for him! He was apparently dating a girl that wouldn't let him go to church because she thought Mormons are witches since she met a Mormon once who apparently practiced witchcraft in her basement at night. We definitely do not encourage nor believe in that haha!
Member meal at Waffle House with Sister Lord! She is so awesome I love her! Definitely a talker haha. She works at a middle school in ESL and told us all kinds of stories! It definitely takes a special person to do that and it is apparent how much she loves those students!
--Unpacking
Friday:
--Started off the day with service at the food pantry! It was a good time and we talked to this funny guy who was blown away that our church has missionaries all over the world. It was cool to tell him about it.
--Lesson at the church with Yuri! We taught him the ten commandments. He is progressing well and will probably get put on date soon!
--Phone call with crazy new member (such a drama king and has been a problem for a while) I did share a good thought though.
--Member meal with the McDonalds family! They have 3 cute boys and it was a party to get to know them!
--Lesson with Kei! He lost both his wife and his son in the last few years and this has led him back to Christ. He did most of the talking and it was all good stuff until he said he felt like he needed to take a step back from church since he already has a relationship with God. Sister Jones reminded him of the importance of the sacrament and he agreed to keep coming!
--New member lesson with Cody! She was a bodybuilder, has a pink mohawk and head tats but she is the most tender person I've met. We talked to her about the temple because we set a date for her to do Baptisms! She is so excited to give the opportunity to receive the gospel to those who have passed. She even started crying (which apparently happens at most lessons) and it made me cry too. I love her. Her son Colton expressed interest in getting baptized next month so that's exciting!
Saturday:
--Weekly planning
--Finding
--Member meal with the Peetin's! They are so fun and so willing to help us!
--Lesson with our new member Jesús and his daughters!
Sunday:
--Church! Definitely a different experience than in Utah. We meet in a small building that used to be a bank right next to a massive Baptist church (turns out most people here are Baptist). I honestly love how casual and cozy it is compared to church at home. It was so fun to get to meet the branch, they are so kind and so welcoming!
--Kei and Yuri came to church!
--Kody shared her testimony!
--Member meal with the Pope's! They are the cutest little family of four. We played a game called gratitude camping with them and they loved it!
Highlights:
--4 Member meals
--My comps
--Good lessons!
Lowlights:
--Crazy member
Spiritual thought:
2 Nephi 32:3
Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.
I invite you all to read The Book of Mormon every day for the rest of your life! This was one of things they had us missionaries promise in an MTC devotional and I think it's brilliant. I can testify that when I read The Book of Mormon daily I feel so much more peace, comfort, and joy throughout the day. And that's a wrap! Love y,all
Peace and Love,
Sister Kendrick
