I’ll Go Where You Want Me To Go
“But if, by a still, small voice he calls To paths that I do not know, I’ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in thine: I’ll go where you want me to go.”
Love this hymn! I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous to leave the comfort of the MTC for the field but I know that I've been called by the still small voice of the spirit to serve a mission and the Lord will be with me every step of the way. The Lord can be with all of us throughout our lives if we accept His hand which is always extended to us.
Jacob 6:4
And how merciful is our God unto us, for he remembereth the house of Israel, both roots and branches; and he stretched forth his hands unto them all the day long; and they are a stiffnecked and a gainsaying people; but as many as will not harden their hearts shall be saved in the kingdom of God.
Today is travel prep day! But don't worry I wrote an email in advance so you still get to listen to me yap. Lol. (Sorry for the essay) This week was so much fun and I'm honestly so sad to say goodbye to my found-family here at the MTC. I truly love them all and wish them the best! It has been so much fun learning from them and getting close to them these past two weeks. Georgia, Canada, Indiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina are all very lucky! I am so excited to see North Carolina and start my adventures there. It will be so awesome!
Now to get into my last week of MTC:
Shoutouts:
–to me for rebuking Elder Holen for barking during a devotional and beguiling people into doing things #thatssatansjob
–to Elder Holen for his shenanigans which are more annoying than funny. (The sprite challenge, randomly singing, talking like a gay man, barking, disrupting class in various ways, allegedly sucking toes for money, sticking his nose in my food to comment on how it smells, etc…) I was so frustrated with him at dinner on Monday that I lost it and started uncontrollably laugh-crying. Everyone was a bit concerned. Then I proceeded to insult him and felt better. I now can feel for everyone who has an annoying younger brother because that's exactly what that felt like. He did make it up to me later by being nice during ping pong and foosball though it was a fun time!
–to my district for making up for the musical talent I lack. (Including the kazoo)
–to Sister Moon for being the best companion and putting up with me
–to Sister Snowball and Sister McCarthy for being hilarious and fun to talk to.
–to Elder Peterson for being church famous since his grandpa is Del Parson and painted a lot of the paintings we use in the church. Also for being a good district leader (DL)
–to Elder Cook for telling cool stories and shooting dots candy out of his nose
–To Elder Murphy for having a birthday on Saturday
–To Sister Anderson and Sister Reynolds for being awesome roommates and Sister Training Leaders (STL's)
–To Elder Sprick for his unique perspective
– To Sexy Hot Chili Peppers because that's definitely what they're called according to Elder Hartzell
Tuesday: Preparation day! Did a little bit of everything.
Wednesday: We got double booked for service. Our two options were helping in the cafeteria and escorting new missionaries. When we got the email from the branch president that we were to proceed with the cafeteria service we were all really sad because we wanted to rip people away from their families, jk. We just thought it would be more fun than serving food but oh well I got to tap into my salad skills from Costa Vida.
My comp and I also had our first helping others appointment today. This is basically just a chance to practice teaching a lesson to someone who is acting as an investigator. It actually went ok! She rated us better than we rated ourselves so I'm calling that a win.
Thursday: Class in the morning then another beautiful temple day this time for sealings! The temple can always bring peace to our chaotic lives and it feels so good to know we're serving those on the other side of the veil. We also hit the byu creamery tonight. Aggie is still better though.
Friday: Travel info day, classes, and another helping other appt. In this appt. though we had to go off script and it was a little rocky but we still got the message across. We knew it was game over when we mentioned the veil haha.
Saturday: Not too eventful, just another good day of learning and laughing. Also got some free time which was nice.
Sunday: Relief society then sacrament meeting with an awesome talk about faith and repentance by Sister Robberts, another go and do experience, and a departure devotional. Then we had an hour break before going to another devotional led by the MTC pres and his wife. It was their last one before getting released and it did not disappoint! It was one of those inspiring devotionals that make you want to harcore lock into the gospel for life. Twas a good and powerful sabbath!
Monday: Last day of classes! I'm definitely gonna miss Brother Reid and Sister Skousen, they are the best teachers! We also had another hoa and then went and played games with the district in the rec room.
Today: Packing and goodbyes!
I love y'all have a fantastic week!
