Spreading My Wings
This week + was a long one but a good one! We spent the week finding, teaching, serving, and prepping for a baptism! I also went on an exchange to Zebulon so even though the week was a little longer it honestly flew by. But anyways, now for the transfer announcement you've all been waiting for...
I'll be ...LEAVING CREEDMOOR :( I'm gonna miss it so much. I love this place and the people in it! I'll also miss the bank building church because nothin is more iconic than that. I'm also sad to leave my comp Sister Paulsen but she's excited to stay in Creedmoor and train a new missionary!
Even though I don't want to leave (and certainly don't want to pack) I do feel that it is my time to go and experience something new. I have no idea where I'll be going or who I'll be with but I know God will take care of me and it will all work out.
My last week was so good because we got to do lots of service! In Zebulon I was able to go with Sister Cutler and their district to help organize a ceramic shop! The lady that owns it is so cute! She showed us around her little farm and let us feed her goats (out of our hands which felt funny.) Then we got to work loading ceramic casts into her truck. When we were finished she let us take whatever clay pieces we wanted! I chose a little angel statue and a hand painted bowl that the lady's mom had made. It is so intricate and beautiful! It was so fun to get to help her and mix up the normal missionary routine!
In Creedmoor we were also able to do some service! We helped out at the food bank by sorting food and loading carts, then immediately took off to go spread mulch in the McIntosh's flower garden! I also moved around everything in the apartment that night and vacuumed behind couches and such (found 3 dead cockroaches) so I was very tired and sore after all that but It was a very productive day.
We were able to do lots of teaching this week as well! We had lessons with Ahtsham, Ivy, Tommy & Joann, Mary, Kei, Kenny, Megan, Christina, Ernestine, Javier, and Lillie. Ivy is a media referral looking for a church and we had a church tour/lesson with her that went really well so cross your fingers. We're also in contact with one of our pals who works at Wendy's named Erikka so we're hoping she pulls up to church this week to (even though I won't be there.)
Another notable thing this week is that our district won the referral Olympics! This basically means we had the most success with reaching out, teaching, and baptizing those who have filled out requests online to meet with us! Also the prize is FINDING WITH OUR MISSION PRESIDENT so that's pretty cool. Not sure how that's gonna work now with transfers but we'll see I guess.
Shoutout to:
–President Stevens (it's his birthday)!
Highlights:
–Prepping for Christina's baptism! She had her interview this week and everything is coming together! We're so excited for her! She also came to church on Sunday with her cute baby Camille.
–Went to the gym every day.
–Candle making activity with the relief society!
–Dinna's with the Benningtons, the Devers, the Crane's, Kalvin & Sister Baldwin, & Sister Avery.
Lowlights:
–IMA MISS CHRISTINA'S BAPTISM (Most likely unless my new area is within 30 minutes.)
–Tommy lowkey broke up with us. Him and Kei are kinda in the same situation where they believe in our doctrine but have strong family ties to another church. Hard to know how hard to push in these situations... They also won't come to church to make friends and we often have fellowship so not sure how to help.
–I'm mentally spent this week. I'm a tad bit concerned about my sanity to be honest and instead of getting a mental day off I have to stress about packing instead.
–No new members or other friends at church. (Boo Memorial Day weekend)
–Lots of rain.
Spiritual thought:
“Draw Near unto Me”
The Savior says, “Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
"Jesus Christ loves each of us. He offers that opportunity to draw closer to Him. As with a loving friend, you will do it in much the same way, by communicating through prayer to Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, listening for cherished guidance from the Holy Ghost, and then serving others for the Savior cheerfully. Soon you would feel that blessing of drawing nearer to Him."
This is from one of my favorite talks from this last conference! I know that as we put forth the effort to draw near unto the Savior that we'll feel his love for us and we'll see great blessings! I invite ya'll to take steps to draw ever nearer to Jesus Christ and His infinite love.
Love ya'll! Catch ya in a few.
Peace and love,
Sister Kendrick
