"I Know What You're Up To"

Image
Said a random old man when we knocked on his door. When he first answered, I wasn't sure if he was even of sound mind because he could barely walk and had a blank stare on his face. But I spoke up and told him that we talk to people about Jesus. He said, “Well I can see that. You're the Mormons right? I know what you're up to.” (If you were wondering, the only thing we're up to is bringing people to Jesus.) Honestly, we weren't sure what to say to that which was alright because he told us to be safe and then closed the door. It was just the most random situation haha. It kinda surprised us for no reason.  Another random situation we were in was also while knocking doors. This guy was just getting home so we walked over while he was getting out of his car to introduce ourselves. He said that he already knew all about our message and didn't want to get into it with us. But then he kept talking. He basically told us that by going door to door we were destroying the...

Tough Crowd

Image
Most of the time people around here are pretty nice even when they reject us. But on Saturday we went to a part of our area called Stem and they were a tough crowd. A lot of people were just kinda rude. Especially this one guy who was working in his yard while we were knocking doors. We walked up to him and he was just like, “I've seen you before.” My comp said, “You have?” And he was like, “Not you, the small one, like 6 months ago.” I said that I hadn’t been here that long, but that it was probably a previous missionary he had seen since they do move us around. He said,  “Oh I thought you were just the same girl and had gained a bit of weight over the winter.”  Haha? Excuse me sir? Bro had no manners. It ain't every day you get called small and fat in the same breath. Lol  But, hey I'm not offended as long as it makes for a good story!  The good news though is that we talked to a lot of people this week and we were able to actually teach a couple lessons! We taught...

We Don't Pinch We Just Baptize

Image
Unfortunately not this week though. But I have faith it's coming! Hey everyone!! This week was kinda crazy but lots of fun! I hope ya'll are wearing green! If not you better watch out so you don't get pinched. Good luck today with your leprechaun catching. I'm rooting for ya as long as you share the load. Lots of random things happened this week which is great and mixes up the routine of missionary life!  I talked in church this week! I was not excited about this but it turned out ok. I got up there and said words so that's a win haha. I've been told they were good words too. So I'll take it!  The crazy thing that happened though was that a tornado warning and church evacuation message was sent out just as I was about to speak. I didn't know that this was happening though. Brother Pope whispered to me to make sure that I finished on time so I was stressing about what that meant. But thankfully I was able to do so. Then we evacuated the building. My comp ...

Short Week For A Short Missionary

Alyssa in your inbox again already? Yup that's right I hope you had a good last few days, I certainly did! This last half week in Creedmoor was a good one. Sister Jones and I were able to talk to some cool people and see some miracles. One of which was when we stopped by Emmanuel's house who we met a few weeks back. He’s about high school age and we had sent him to the Spanish ward in Henderson since his family is more comfortable speaking Spanish. But the church was too far of a drive for them. So the Elders lost contact with Emmanual. They asked us to stop by to see him and we did so. We were able to teach him about The Book or Mormon! He's genuinely interested in learning more and was even flipping through the pages and asking questions while we were teaching him about it! He even said he had been fasting that day for a way to get closer to God and BAM there we were with one of the most powerful tools to do so: The Book of Mormon. We hope we see him at church this Sunday...

Half Baked

Image
That's right y'all I'm half baked meaning halfway done with training and 1 transfer in! Mission time really is trippy. The days are slow but the weeks fly by! TRANSFER WEEK & MIRACLE MONDAY The big news is …. Sister Livingston is leaving (bye dad). Ima miss her so much. I've learned a lot from her! Poor Sister Jones has to stay and finish baking me all alone haha. I'll also miss everyone else getting transferred and or going home (RIP Sister Lee and Elder Jones-God be with you ‘til we meet again). Godsplanstrict is the best!  Shoutout to:     --My amazing comp Sister Jones for being called STL!    --Elder Drake for being promoted to DL! Our mission does transfers a little bit differently where we don't have Monday Pday that week and instead we call it Miracle Monday! On this day we're not allowed to go back to our apartment at all! We work all day to wrack up those miracles before transfers on Thursday. We receive the transfer news on Tuesday ...
