Commercial Star?!
Yes everyone, my comps and I were asked to be in a Nissan television commercial as missionaries. So I guess somebody thinks we have potential haha. Hello, acting-career!? It was actually so funny. But I'm sad I lost my only chance to be on TV. I would've said yes in another life haha.
Anyways this week was definitely slower than the last two but still pretty good. We had this cool experience on Thursday when we went “finding.” We met this really cool lady named Jennifer who invited us in and she said that us visiting her was a sign from God. We taught her and her teenage son Leon about the sacrament and they said that they would come to church! And guess what? They actually did!! I was able to read 3 Nephi 11:11 with her and give her a Book of Mormon (that was my first time initiating that and first BOM!) She was so sweet. Knocking doors can be intimidating but it is worth it for moments like that.
On another note this week hasn't been the easiest for me. The fact that I'm gonna be a full time missionary for the next 17 months 24/7 has finally started to hit me and I feel a little overwhelmed. I'm a pretty introverted, practical, and chill person and mission life is a very extroverted, intense, impractical, and regimented life. Not the life I would normally choose to live that's for sure. Mission rules can be A LOT and it sometimes feels to me like trying to live the law of Moses haha. It can be exhausting and it’s been hard for me to understand the purpose of some of these super strict rules and I can see how easy it could be to get caught up in it and lose sight of what's really important. I just keep reminding myself that the reason I'm here and choose to live this life is because I want to become like Christ by teaching and serving people and bringing them unto Him. I am here to help people come unto Christ not to be the “perfect” missionary because really there's no such thing. We all have our own strengths, weaknesses, and battles that we're fighting with the Lord. All I can do is my best and I intend to still be myself, just a better version.
Spiritual thought:
I want to share something cool with you guys that my comps and I do each night. Before bed we all have to say how we have seen the hand of God in our lives that day. On Tuesday night I had a cool experience to share. The day before, on Pday, I had lost my airpods when we went to hang with the district in Wake Forest. This was upsetting to me because having airpods on the mish is the closest thing I've got to privacy and they're just not the best thing to lose so I was stressin’. It worked out though that we got to go back to Wake Forest on Tuesday because we went and blitzed (multiple sets of missionaries go work the same area) Falls Lake while Sister Livingston was at MLC. We didn't end up having keys to the church but by some miracle one of the doors was unlocked so I was able to go in and search for them. Sure enough there they were in the gym where I had set them so I could do Cartwheels with Sister Jones. I know that God had a hand in that door being unlocked so my prayer to find my airpods would be answered. He really does answer prayers and if we really think about it we can always find His hand in our day.
I invite y'all to do this in your lives! Think of what God's hand in your day was before bed each night then thank Him in your prayers!
