"SWIM MOSES SWIM!"
Happy Mother’s Day to all the sweet ladies in my life! I love ya’ll so much and hope you had a beautiful day of being celebrated! Here are your virtual flowers :)
I miss my mom so much and am so grateful for her support and the wonderful example of Christlike love she has set for me!
This week was a good one! Not super eventful but we did meet some cool new friends! Namely Linda and Garry who we met on Saturday knocking doors. We talked to them for a LONG time. They are the cutest. We also ended up stopping by Kei’s as well and had a lesson with him! He's also a talker so between that and Linda and Garry the day went by fast haha.
We also had exchanges again! So back to Falls Lake I went. I might as well just leave an overnight bag there haha. It was another good day though! We called up a media referral that they got and ended up setting up a time to give her a church tour later that night! (My second time giving a tour of the Stake Center haha). Her name is Rochelle and she is the sweetest! God definitely had a hand in the timing of everything working out so that we could talk with her and teach her! There was even a member already at the church that we asked to share her testimony of the sacrament! (Instead, she went through every step of how sacrament meeting typically plays out in great detail and said that taking the sacrament doesn't mean anything unless you're baptized. Sometimes you can tell which fellowshipper served a mission and which didn't haha. But they're all great!) She did her best and the spirit was there so hopefully Rochelle felt it too!
We got a couple funny rejections this week! We knocked on a door and a lady answered and just immediately started saying “No, no, no, no, no!” before shutting the door on us haha. At that point just be normal and use your words to say you're not interested. We also stopped by someone who had been formally taught and upon hearing who we were aggressively locked her screen door and told us to “Go Away!” On the other hand though, it's really cool to see when someone answers the door and acts very standoffish but then as you talk with them you can watch them soften as you find common ground in your mutual love for Jesus Christ. That happened when we met this cute young mom who is pregnant with twins. It was so cute to hear her tell us about her love for the Savior!
Shoutout:
–To Mack for tres años on Wednesday!
Highlights:
–THE GYM IS BACK! I actually really missed lifting so I'm very happy about this. I also went on a couple runs this week and realized just how out of shape I am lol.
–Making fun of Gage. He's our buddy who works in the lobby at Bojangles and always talks to us when we go there to study. We make fun of each other, it's a good time.
–Mother’s Day Relief Society breaky! We also got to go to the Despains and Judds for dinner and spend time with their family. It was really fun!
–Christina came to church!
Lowlights:
–None of the other people that told us they were coming showed up to church.
Spiritual Thought:
This chapter is talking about Helaman's 2,000 stripling soldiers, young men that chose to fight in a war against their enemies in place of their fathers who had made a covenant to God to no longer fight with the sword.
Alma 56:47-48
Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.
And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it.
From this story in The Book of Mormon we learn that there is great power in the testimony of a loving Mother! As we as women of God strengthen our own testimonies and share them with our children and those around us we contribute to bringing up a righteous generation to welcome Jesus Christ!
Explanation of the title: We acted out Moses being put into the River as a baby. We play video scripture charades with our District.
